A limited-edition annual release of 1,500 bottles celebrating the Islay Jazz Festival 2024, matured in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak then finished in South African Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks — the first time Lagavulin has used South African wine casks. Bottled at natural cask strength of 56.1% ABV.

A/ Official tasting notes

NOSE

Intense and smoky with a sweet yet powerful melody of linseed oil and tea; hints of carbolic soap and fragrant smoke recalling Lapsang Souchong, backed by light maritime notes of sweet edible seaweed.

PALATE

Creamy-smooth texture with a sweet initial taste and immediate appeal, well balanced by saltiness, then joined by fast-rising smoke and considerable peppery spiciness, with a wonderful depth of taste.

FINISH

Long, with more smoke and plenty of spiciness, finishing dry with lingering smoke; slightly cooling, with an aftertaste suggesting Szechuan pepper.
