The third release in Bruichladdich's cult Whisky of Mass Distinction series, Yellow Submarine [Reclassified] is a limited edition bottling celebrating the distillery's 25th anniversary, following the original 2005 release and Yellow Submarine II: The Legend Resurfaces (2018). Unpeated, non-chill filtered, and bottled at cask strength with no added colour, it pays tribute to the notorious story of a Ministry of Defence submarine discovered off Islay's coast in 2005.

A/ Official tasting notes

NOSE

Sweet honeyed oats and buttery shortbread open the nose, underpinned by gentle cereal warmth, lightly toasted hazelnuts, smooth praline, and a dusting of nutmeg. Pink peppercorns and a hint of ginger punctuate the sweetness before mellowing into warming spice.

PALATE

Luxuriously smooth in texture with fresh orange zest, honeysuckle, orange blossom, crisp apple, and succulent pear. Creamy crème brûlée brings richness and depth, complemented by golden heather and a hint of sea salt.

FINISH

Long and warming, with lingering crème brûlée sweetness, a touch of sea salt, and gentle spice that brings you back to the rugged Islay coast.
