Ardcore is Ardbeg's 2022 Ardbeg Day limited-edition release, inspired by punk rock and created using a mash bill of 75% standard distilling malt and 25% heavily roasted black malt barley — a first for the distillery. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered and of natural colour (a Committee Edition at 50.1% ABV was also released).

A/ Official tasting notes

NOSE

Spicy and savoury, with waves of marmite, burnt toast, chicory, charcoal and infused coffee grounds; a classic Ardbeg herbal top note is present, while swirling smoky bonfire and molasses linger in the background.

PALATE

A jaw-dropping spicy and fiery mouthfeel leads to an explosion of rich, smoky flavours — cocoa powder, dark chocolate, peanut brittle toffee, smoked lime and a suggestion of soot and bonfire embers.

FINISH

Potent notes of aniseed and dark chocolate linger, with charcoal and sweet smoke leaving a long, intense, and distinctly 'Ardcore' aftertaste.
