The inaugural release in Ardbeg's Anthology Collection, a series of experimental single malts matured in cask types new to the distillery. It marries 13-year-old Ardbeg aged in classic ex-bourbon casks with Sauternes wine casks, creating a hybrid of powerful smoke and rich sweetness inspired by the mythological half-human, half-bird Harpy said to inhabit Islay.

A/ Official tasting notes

NOSE

Distinctively oily with touches of extra virgin olive oil, sweet briar wood and aromatic herbs such as coriander and sage, with a gentle suggestion of smoked lemon peel.

PALATE

A soft, oily mouthfeel leads into rich, woody sweetness of dark treacle and balsamic, with hints of oak moss, aniseed lozenges, smoked apricots and eucalyptus oil.

FINISH

Long and lingering with sweetness and smoke, a touch of cumin, cardamom and the merest hint of coconut.
